TGIF is an understatement as far as this week is concerned. I’m sure you guys are so sick of hearing us complain about our technical issues this week, and believe me, I am sick of dealing with them. This week has been frustrating on so many different levels. Things started off badly when I woke up to our site being down early Monday morning. My husband redirected our domain Sunday evening, and although it wasn’t up when we went to bed, we thought it would surely be finished by that morning. Big mistake! Monday morning arrived with a big 504 error! Yikes! I immediately burst into tears because what I feared most had come true. There is nothing worse than seeing something you worked so hard on for a year and a half completely disappear. I was a mess, like a five year old who had just watched her dog get run over by a car kind of mess. (sorry for the graphic image, but that is seriously what I was like) Once I lost it, my husband sprang into action and did his IT mumbo jumbo, and luckily the site started working. All is calm, all is well for that moment at least.
After the site was up and working, I started to notice other big issues. None of our Pinterest pins were pointing back to our page, and Bloglovin was a no go too. It was like we had completely started our blog over, and not to mention that our page was still kind of a mess. Not dead Fido mess, but I still wanted to pull my hair out. It’s taken all week to get the social media stuff settled, and I wish I could say that we are done, but we aren’t. I am still questioning whether this was worth it, but I do love working on WordPress.
Tuesday was a better day. We had some other elements of our blog up and working, bloglovin was fixed, and I had fixed many of our pins on Pinterest. I was feeling much better and a little confident that everything was going to be okay. Then the Universe bitch slapped us. Wednesday morning arrived, and the site had gone down again! I frantically called our host Go Daddy only to discover that A. Yes it was their fault, and B. they had no idea how long this issue would last. I have never felt so helpless in my entire life. There was literally nothing I could do. I did get a bunch of laundry and cleaning done though. Several hours later the site was back up and running, but we took a major hit to our page views for the day.
With all of the technical issues that we have had, and the fact that our site is STILL not 100% finished, I can successfully say that this has been a horrible experience. It’s a good thing that I just got certified in CPR/ First Aid because I was able to deal with my own stroke, heart attack, shock, dehydration, and hangover. Okay so they don’t discuss hangover in first aid, but they should. Am I right?
I really want to thank you all for your support and patience through this. I also want to send a shout out to my girls Jessica, Amy, and Megan, for helping a sistah out with their advice and quick responses to my questions.
