Welcome to the first Wednesday of 2017! I can’t believe that yet another year is upon us, and I am looking forward to a year full of promise. Like Whitney said yesterday, I also plan to shop my closet more this year and be content with the items that I currently own. It’s really about re-working the items in your wardrobe and creating as many looks as you can. This month I plan to highlight closet staples that continue to be my favorites year after year. For instance this jacket, also seen here, has been in my possession for a while, but I absolutely love it because of the rich cognac color. It was actually a boutique find, but I have found a couple of similar options that I linked up for you below. A good leather jacket is closet work horse. It’s great for warmth and it’s such a chic way to add some edge to your look.
leather jacket: old {similar style here and here}// plaid scarf: Gap {similar style here and here}// black turtleneck: Nordstrom// sock boots: Steven Nell Booties c/o Shopbop// Black tote: Tory Burch York Buckle Tote c/o shopbop// black denim: Joe’s Jeans// aviators: Ray-Ban
This year has gotten off to a bit of a rough start. We woke up New Year’s Day to a broken dishwasher, and then later that day my sweet dog ended up getting really sick. I was up with him all night and had to take him to the vet the next day. The Veterinarian decided to give me a good shock and tell me that Schnauzers are prone to Pancreatitis! Luckily that wasn’t the case and they think he just had a bad case of Gastroenteritis. I’m thinking maybe they should have led with the Gastroenteritis and left the Pancreatitis for further testing. I’m also thinking I need a new vet too!
I am happy to say that he has responded well to the anti-nausea medicine, and his chicken and rice diet. He is slowly getting back to normal. It was very stressful watching him go through that and look so pitiful. It’s almost worse having a sick dog than a sick child, because a dog can’t tell you what hurts or if they are feeling better. Needless to say this momma is already run down. Oy Vay!
Here’s hoping that the rest of the week and year go smoothly!
Have a great day!

I’m so sorry to hear about your dog – that is not a great way to start the year, but glad he’s on the mend. On a completely different note, that jacket is amazing – a staple for sure and I love the black and brown paired together! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

There is nothing worse than a sick dog! Whenever buddy is under the weather it makes me so sad!
I’m with y’all on remixing my wardrobe this year- I’ve got lots to save for so my shopping budget is taking a hit!
Oh bless your heart! What a New Year’s Day. Waking up to a broken dishwasher stinks and your poor dog. I agree that having a sick dog is so hard. I am sure the rest of the week will be much better for you!
So sorry about your new year sweet pea! Trust me I totally hear you on the doggy thing, we went through so much with our dog the last couple months thank goodness she is finally better, broke my heart. You look darling, black and cognac is such a splendid combo and absolutely love the windowpane scarf!
Love how you styled this leather jacket–I’m totally on the same page with shopping my own closet more this year. So glad to hear your pup is doing better–nothing breaks my heart more than when my Toby isn’t feeling well! They’re just so helpless!

Oh no! Sick pups are the worst and I always feel so bad anytime they’re not themselves. Glad to hear he’s on the mend! I have the same wardrobe goal this year and love that you’re highlighting these pieces!
Love the idea of shopping the closet. I agree with when pets are sick it’s so awful since they can’t tell us anything. Hope he’s all better asap!
Ohh love your boots, such a perfect match to the jacket! And hope your dog will feel better soon! Xx

So glad your pup is ok! It’s the worst when dogs are sick because you can’t ask them what’s wrong! #dogmomproblems. Happy New Year and love this look. I also need to start shopping my closet this year.

Glad your dog is doing better, and hope you are able to get some rest. Your scarf just adds that “pop” to your look – I love the color combo. I am trying to do a lot more “closet shopping” than online shopping this – although, the great sales have tempted me. Wishing you a great 2017!

I’m glad your dog doesn’t have Pancreatitis, but I wish the vet didn’t lead with that. I too am going to try and wear more pieces that are already in my closet. I cleaned it out right after Christmas and didn’t realize some of the great items that I already owned!
