Ten Take On Fall: Must Haves

Happy Tuesday, everyone! This is our second installment on our Ten Take On Fall and this week we’ve rounded up our Must Have layering basics for you. Like before, make sure to stop by all of the other amazing ladies in the series to see what their Must Have Fall items are!

Like everyone else, I am so excited for Fall. It is a great time to get creative with my outfits by mixing prints and of course layering. Layering does not come easy to me. I really have to think about the pieces that I put together and plan ahead. I am getting better, but it’s only because I have built a great set of basic items that I know work well together to create a great layered look. 

In my opinion you can never have enough plaid shirts or long cardigans. I have a ton of both and wear them religiously throughout the Fall season. I also probably wear my striped turtleneck and gingham shirt too much. They are great layering staples and go with just about everything. I am so in love with this orange turtleneck that I just found. I may have to add it to my closet soon, because it’s under $35 and it comes in 15 different colors!

Every time I think of layering, I think of Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid Love, because, he’s the king of layering in this movie and ridiculously hot. So, I thought I’d include The Mall clip for you, because, well, do we really need an excuse to watch Ryan Gosling?

    Hahahah!!! Thank you for that Ryan Gosling reference!!! And I just ordered the plaid shirt. It is the perfect plaid and I’ve been trying to find that exact color way for several seasons now. Glad JCrew finally indulged in my needs!!

    These are great layering pieces and I’m happy to hear that someone besides me feels like it takes quite a bit of mental effort to plan out layers and make sure it works with all the other components of an outfit. I think that’s part of why summer is my favorite…it’s just easier to outfit plan without layers! LOL.

    I totally agree about never having enough plaid shirts and cardigans and actually own most of these pieces haha! I had that navy/green/yellow plaid shirt in my cart last week and didn’t buy it. I might have to go back and get it now!

    Thanks for the great list of basics. I would like to add a gingham shirt to my current closet and adding long cardigans/ponchos are always a given for me.
